01/28/2007 - Mobile, AL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Penn State's Tony Hunt earned MVP honors by rushing for 38 yards on eight carries with a score, as the North beat the South 27-0 in the 2007 Senior Bowl, which showcases some of the nation's premiere talent one last time before embarking on professional careers both in and out of the sport.
Ohio Sate's Heisman-Trophy winner Troy Smith completed just 5-of-15 passes for 52 yards and a score for the North, which has won three straight and four of the last five matchups.
Chris Leak of Florida led the Gators to a 41-14 rout of OSU in the BCS Championship Game earlier this month, but completed 5-of-9 passes for just 23 yards with a fumble for the South.
Smith slightly improved his performance from the BCS Championship, in which he completed 4-of-14 passes for 35 yards for the Buckeyes, who had their 19-game winning streak broken.
UTEP's Jordan Palmer completed 5-of-8 passes for 91 yards. Patrick Willis of Ole Miss led all defenders with 11 tackles to be named the South's defensive player of the game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden led the North All-Stars into battle, while the South was led by San Francisco 49er head man Mike Nolan.
Hunt got the North going with 11:24 remaining in the first on a seven-yard touchdown run, which capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive. Mason Crosby (Colorado) then converted a 38-yard field goal seven minutes later for a 10-0 North lead heading into the second.
The North opened up its passing game in the second quarter. Michigan State's Drew Stanton found Aundrae Allison of East Carolina for a seven-yard touchdown pass with 10:15 left, and Crosby added a 20-yarder with just 37 ticks left before halftime for a commanding 20-0 North advantage heading into the locker room.
Smith got into the action midway through the third when he hooked up with Washington State's Jason Hill for the North's second seven-yard touchdown pass of the day.
